Policies & FAQ
I have cancer, I can get a massage?
YES!! Different strokes for different folks. Each session will be custom tailored to your type of cancer and treatments.
YES!! No one should ever be denied a massage because they have cancer, unless that therapist is untrained.
*PLEASE NOTE Deep work is not recommended on anyone currently in treatment or a history of cancer that also has a history of lymphedema or DVT. At risk clients are a case by case basis*
I just had chemo, How long do I have to wait until I can get a massage?
It's up to you. We wouldn't recommend you come in if you are actively vomiting or feeling malaise, but we do have emesis bags on hand for those "UH OH" moments.
*PLEASE NOTE: If you are receiving oral chemotherapy or received IV treatment/injection within the last 72 hours, the therapist will need to wear gloves. Notify your therapist of any latex or nitrile allergies*
I have a port, I can still get a massage?
Yes! We will arrange rolled towels and pillows so there will be no pressure on your port, making you as comfortable as possible.
I just had radiation therapy, How long do I have to wait until I can get a massage?
Depends on the type of radiation or if there are any open wounds. If you have had Brachytherapy, wait until you have recovered from the procedure. Please communicate clearly of location. These areas will need to be avoided. i.e. abdominal work will need to be avoided for liver implantation. Radiation therapy has been known to cause burns, please, if your wounds are seeping or cannot be covered, wait until they are healed to come in for a massage. Localized external therapy- the area of treatment plus exit area will need to be avoided. Communication is key.
I don't have cancer, Can I still come here for a massage?
Yes. We do not limit to treating only cancer patients. Our intent is to relive pain for all sufferers. If you have an ailment, we will happily work on a treatment plan with you. Ex: Lower back pain, shoulder pain, migraines. Note: Multiple sessions will be required. A treatment plan will be discussed at your first consult. *We do not treat relaxation clients, we refer to a different clinic for that.
